Lowcountry Strawberry Festival at Boone Hall Farms
One of the things we love about life in Mount Pleasant is having Boone Hall Farms right in our community.
Want to share a bit of Lowcountry history with visitors? A trip to Boone Hall is always a crowd-pleaser. It’s that time of year where sweet, ripe strawberries are in full bloom. What better way to celebrate this favorite fruit than with a festival! On April 20-23, kids and kids-at-heart will be able to explore acres upon acres of rides, games and of course plenty of delicious strawberries there for the picking. Load up your basket with these sweet morsels to sprinkle on waffles or bake in a pie.
In addition to loads of fresh strawberries to take home, you can get your taste of carnival fun. Hop on a towering Ferris Wheel to get a bird’s eye view of the strawberry fields and the surrounding pockets of Mount Pleasant. From The Gravitron to giant inflatables, like the 3-story tower slide, there is something for everyone at this yearly event that attracts thousands. Whether you want an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride or a more laidback evening of family fun, The Strawberry Festival has got you covered.
Animal lovers will want to visit the petting zoo and little ones will have many an opportunity to ride ponies if they so desire. Think you have what it takes to chow down with the best of them? Put your money where your mouth is and enter a pie-eating contest. Prizes for winners vary. Learn about farming from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture and be sure to catch the Miss Berry Princess Contest.
Watch skilled canines catch air and show off their retrieving skills. Listen to live music courtesy of local talent and don’t forget to bring your appetite to feast on all the delicious carnival eats sure to transport you back to those times when you had a bedtime and a curfew.
